Well, it’s been a while since I last posted, so I figured I was due for an update. 🙂
The main reason why I stopped blogging is because of lack of time. As you know, we’re determined to make this lifestyle permanent, and we need to make sure that we have a steady stream of income to support us. And it takes quite a bit of time to figure that stuff out.
So, after dabbling in many options, we’ve finally settled on what we plan to focus on for earning money online. And it’s working. We’re now more confident than ever that we’ll be able to sustain this long-term. I’ll never get so sure of myself to say 100%… I’d need a few more years of this to go by before I consider saying THAT. But I’m feeling 99% sure that this will be sustainable over the long haul.
And the work we’ve been doing didn’t leave much time for blogging, soooo… here we are with many months having gone by since our last post!
Are We Still Traveling?
Yup! We came back to SE Asia for another year. And next year, we plan on spending some time in Central and/or South America.
Are the Kids Happy?
Well, let me put it this way… if you ask them if they want to go back home, you’ll get a solid “No!” from both of them. They prefer homeschooling and traveling to settling down and living a normal life. (I guess they have a gypsy gene too??) So we’re lucky that they feel that way, I know this lifestyle isn’t something that all kids like.
And obviously there is always the potential for any of us to change how we feel about living the travel life… but we’ll cross that bridge if we come to it.
Will We Ever See Our Family and Friends Back Home?
Of course! We go home to visit in the summer, and plan on continuing that indefinitely. We end up very busy as we cram in a year’s worth of visiting into 2 months, but it’s worth it!
Are We Happy?
Hell yes! This is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made and I wish we’d have done it sooner! Again, I know this lifestyle is not for everyone, but it suits us just fine.
Do We Have a Social Life?
Yup. There is a very active group on Facebook for nomadic families, and we’ve met up with many of them in person. We’ve even met up with some of these families in multiple countries! We’ve had many weeks where we are literally going out for dinner every night to meet up with friends. So heading out on the road doesn’t have to mean giving up on socializing.
I honestly don’t know if I’ll post again here on the blog… too many other things are going on. But I figured that if post this quick update, at least it has some sort of conclusion. 🙂
I’ll go out with the song that I used to listen to all the time as I schemed about how to make this travel lifestyle happen… 🙂 I still love listening to it, to be honest…
P.S. If you want to live this kind of lifestyle, put your all into it and see what happens. You never know what might come of it… I’m not suggesting that you throw caution to the wind or anything like that, but you know, get a plan in place for the financial side of things, start figuring out what opportunities you can create for yourself to earn a buck online, and see how it goes!
